Dr. Can Erbil is a distinguished applied economist, professor, and consultant with over 28 years of expertise in economic modeling, international trade, and development economics. A Professor of the Practice at Boston College, he teaches courses on the global economy, economic policy, and inequality, while seamlessly integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and educational technology (EdTech) into his work. As Principal Investigator for multiple grants, including Exploring AI in Teaching and Learning Economics and Virtual Reality in Economics Education, Dr. Erbil pioneers innovative approaches to economic education. His projects leverage AR, VR, and XR technologies to enhance digital learning environments and use AI-driven economic modeling to tackle complex global challenges. Dr. Erbil teaches Ethics, Economics, and Public Policy at the graduate level, including a recent seminar on Research Ethics and Plagiarism for PhD students at the University of Dubrovnik. He is also a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum and Director of the EcoMod Modeling School, where he trains policymakers and researchers worldwide in cutting-edge economic modeling techniques. Through EcoMod, Dr. Erbil has led workshops in Belgium, Ecuador, Turkey, Venezuela, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, USA, Singapore, and the Czech Republic. He previously served as a Senior Scientist at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management and as Assistant Director at the Center for German and European Studies, where he focused on international economic policy and trade. A leader in executive education, Dr. Erbil organizes and leads Executive Immersion Trips between Istanbul and Boston, partnering with institutions like Brandeis University, Boston College, Harvard University, Özyeğin University and Bahçeşehir University to facilitate cross-cultural exchange and business insights.
