Interpreting Macroeconomic Indicators
In this talk, Erhan Aslanoğlu explains to participants, in plain language and with practical examples, how macroeconomic data should be read and interpreted. He unpacks the meaning of — and the relationships between — indicators such as inflation, interest rates, exchange rates and growth, which are widely discussed but often misread. The goal is to enable sounder economic decisions at both the individual and corporate level.
Aslanoğlu structures the talk as an ‘economic speed-reading’ session. Participants learn which indicators to prioritise among the many charts and data points, and discover how ratios can be derived from that data and what those ratios mean. Much as a doctor watches for findings at particular thresholds, he shows that reading economic data has its own critical thresholds.
