Speaker Profile

Dr. Altay Atlı is the founding director of Atlı Global, an Istanbul-based company offering advisory services on global economic affairs, and a lecturer at the Asian Studies program of Boğaziçi University, international relations program of Turkish National Defense University and the Executive MBA program of Koç University. A strong believer in the value of constructive dialogue between academia and business community as well between theory and practice, he combines his academic work with consulting, in order to offer customized, analytically robust and theoretically informed solutions that are grounded in empirical reality.

Having graduated from the German High School in Istanbul, Dr. Atli obtained a B.A. degree in Economics from Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey, a M.A. degree in International Business from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, and a Ph.D. degree in Political Sciences and International Relations from Boğaziçi University.

Dr. Atlı was affiliated with Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center, and Shanghai University’s Center for Global Studies. Having also worked as research coordinator at Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), he is currently an expert member at the China Network of Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD), Turkey’s leading business association.

Dr. Atlı was chosen a “Global Emerging Voices Fellow” by Torino World Affairs Institute, in partnership with the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Australian National University, and Stiftung Mercator; and he was recognized as a “Young Academics Fellow” by the Global Relations Forum.

He has delivered lectures and talks on Asian economic issues and Turkey’s relations with Asia at institutions in several world cities, including Washington DC, San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tokyo, Singapore, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Budapest, Reykjavik, Brussels, Turin, Tel Aviv and Tunis. Moreover, he regularly appears on programs in media channels like Bloomberg, BBC World, Turkish Radio Television (TRT), TvNet, CCTV, CGTN, Channel News Asia, China Radio International, commenting on developments in the global economy and Turkey’s relations with Asian countries. Dr. Atlı is the host of “Rising Asia” a weekly TV show airing on Ekotürk TV.
